“The total liberation and unification of Africa under an All-African Socialist Government must be the primary objective of all Black revolutionaries throughout the world. It is an objective which, when achieved, will bring about the fulfillment of the aspirations of Africans and people of African descent everywhere. It will at the same time advance the triumph of the international socialist revolution, and the onward progress towards world communism, under which, every society is ordered on the principle of –from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” — Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah

On behalf of the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party (A-APRP) and its women’s wing, the  All-African Women’s Revolutionary Union (A-AWRU),  we are issuing this press release to commemorate the 100th birthday of the Immortal Pan-Africanist, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, first President of Ghana West Africa, and supreme strategist of the African Revolution. In January of 2009, the world-wide community called for unified efforts to acknowledge and commemorate the life, works and continued contributions of Nkrumah and Nkrumahist and since then there have been global events underway.

The All-African People’s Revolutionary Party has launched the 100th anniversary of the birth of our founder, the immortal Osagyefo, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah born on September 21, 1909. Dr. Nkrumah was a true Pan-Africanist and internationalist, fighting against capitalism and imperialism in all corners of the world. His contributions, both conceptually and practically, serve as a shinning example of how to achieve justice and peace in this world.

Dr. Nkrumah was one of the most influential organizers and Pan-African  strategist of the African Revolution in the 20th century. It was under his courageous leadership and that of the cadre within the Convention People’s Party (CPP), that Ghana achieved independence and played its critical role as the liberation base from which many just liberation struggles could be supported. Through constant political education and intricate involvement in the liberation struggle through scientific organization, the masses became aware of their moment of destiny in which they seized the reins from British imperialism and proclaimed Ghana as an independent country!

It was at the independence  celebration on March 6, 1957 that the great visionary freedom fighter, Osagyefo, would be ever diligent in keeping the focus of the struggle:

We again re-dedicate ourselves in the struggle to emancipate other countries in Africa, for our independence is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation of the African continent.

Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s most lasting contribution was his tireless commitment to the unity of Africa and all African people throughout the Pan-African Diaspora. He was totally committed to the destruction of imperialism and would have used all the influence at his disposal to insure that such entities as Africom (U.S. African Command, Military Force) never existed, that Africa’s resources would only be developed for the use of African people, that no outside force could have openly orchestrated to arm, dismantle or disrupt Africa’s  political  growth  and political unity. There could be no place in Africa for foreign exploitation without the total and complete political assault of the Pan-African Revolutionary forces. Nkrumah was totally committed and became one of the most outspoken activist for the African revolution under a socialist United States of Africa and the world-wide socialist movement.

More than ever, it is imperative that true Pan-African revolutionaries, Socialist and Communist recommit ourselves to Africa’s liberation, that we unite and begin to work more diligently to insure that imperialism and capitalism breathes its last breath in Africa and that the next  generation of young African revolutionaries are well educated on the life and work of Dr. Nkrumah and other notable revolutionaries that created the benchmark for our march towards freedom.

Some of Nkrumah’s greatest contributions to our revolution are that we must be committed to Revolutionary Ideology, Revolutionary Organization and in constant motion to create Revolutionary Unity amongst all Africans and all international revolutionaries.

Dr. Nkrumah’s greatness as a leader belongs to all freedom loving peoples. We recognize that it is through working with our friends, comrades and relatives that the vision for a socialist world is possible. In honor of Dr. Nkrumah’s 100th  anniversary, we invite you to participate in various celebrations and acknowledgements. We would greatly appreciate it if your organization would send an official letter of solidarity to be read at our various celebrations worldwide. We further invite you to participate where practical, in our various celebrations throughout the Pan-African world.

For more information on the upcoming activities contact your local A-APRP organizers or contact the regional coordinators at the addresses listed above.

We would also welcome your solidarity statements for the Nkrumah@100 events which will continue to be celebrated throughout the coming year. Please send them to panafrica@which.net
