Ken Tyler was born on October 28, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Luther College in Iowa majoring in Black Studies, Arts and Education.
He served as President of the Black Student Union, during which time he joined the All-African People's Revolutionary Party (A-APRP), in 1977.
Ken faithfully worked during his years in the A-APRP at various university campuses, responsible for organizing teach-ins and recruitment drives.
He served as a member of the Illinois Chapter Coordinating Council for nearly 20 years as coordinator of the Program Committee and later the Administration Committee.
Ken was heavily involved in developing and mentoring younger party members. He was also a part of several high level delegations including ones to Libya during the days of the Libyan revolution. Ken was resourceful member of the Central Printing Task Force, procuring presses for local use and to send overseas.
Ken joined the ancestors on April 24, 1999. He is survived by his wife Cynthia and children Candeca and Malcolm.
