The Politics of these Right, White Protests
BACKGROUND
In dozens of cities across the U.S., hundreds and thousands of almost exclusively European people are staging protests at government offices. They claim they are protesting the social distancing shutdowns of businesses across the country. They demand that the shutdowns end immediately. The fact that they make this demand, without any evidence that this country will join socialist Cuba in developing a comprehensive testing and treatment program, illustrates the absurdity of their position. These protests are being organized by right wing ideological elements, funded at least in part by long time multi-national corporate employers. Their desire is actually to ensure that working class colonized people and poor whites are forced to continue carrying out the labor that produces revenues for the elite classes. The clear danger to those workers is of no consequence to these people. For this one hour seminar, we will explain the sources of this sentiment, the people participating, and why people concerned about justice should be concerned and preparing to take actions to protect our communities.
