“Promoting Pan-African Consciousness and Action through Study abroad in Africa” – Prairie View, Texas, U.S.

March 21 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm CDT

Join us at May Hall on the Campus of Prairie View A&M for a special talk by Albie Walls, who is visiting the U.S. from Ghana.

Albie Walls initially joined the Pan-African movement while a university student in the U.S.A. in the 1980s. Albie has lived and worked in Ghana since 2000. For the last 10 years or so he has worked at the University of Ghana with international study abroad programs. In recent years, Albie has done work to support an organization called the HBCU African Education Coalition, which has sought to increase the number of HBCU students who study in Africa. That effort has included the publication last year of a book entitled “A Study Abroad Manual: For Promoting Pan-African Consciousness and Action.”

Mr Walls has traveled extensively in Africa and represented the broader Pan-African Movement through his work with the organization founded by First President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah called the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party (A-APRP), on various platforms and programs in Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, and the U.S.A. His work has involved meeting and working with various Pan-African organizations in different countries and extensive work with students of all ages. Among other things, in Ghana, he currently works with students, youth, and the community at large, to help organize and advance the Pan-African movement.
