“The total liberation and unification of Africa under an All-African Socialist Government must be the primary objective of all Black revolutionaries throughout the world. It is an objective which, when achieved, will bring about the fulfillment of the aspirations of Africans and people of African descent everywhere. It will at the same time advance the triumph of the international socialist revolution, and the onward progress towards world communism, under which, every society is ordered on the principle of –from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” — Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah

African Liberation Day Lives – Organize! Organize! Organize!

Yes! African Liberation Day lives! In spite of the unceasing attacks on Africa and those who fight for her dignity and liberation, African Liberation Day remains an institution in the African World. Every year on or near May 25, Africans around the globe pause to analyze, educate and demonstrate their commitment to ridding Africa of those who dominate and exploit the continent’s people, land and resources. Those who are engaged in this fight know that by establishing an African continent that is liberated, united and socialist, the extraordinary respect and power that Africa will gain will impact the lives and circumstances of even those Africans who were born and who live outside of the African continent.

The All-African People’s Revolutionary Party thanks and congratulates you for commemorating African Liberation Day. Your active participation in the events of this important day are the best evidence that you have ignored those who are either misguided or hostile to our people when they say that Africa is no longer at the center of our struggle for justice. Your commemoration of African Liberation Day demonstrates that you are not one who believes that Africans have stopped struggling for Africa and are instead waiting quietly for Barack Obama to provide “aid” and “jobs.” The truth is, African Liberation Day is now commemorated in every corner of the African World, and more events are organized every year in new and different places.

At every African Liberation Day event organized by the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party, there is the repeated call for “Pan-Africanism.” This term simply means the total liberation and unification of Africa under scientific socialism. Pan-Africanism recognizes that even though African countries may fly their own flags, they are still controlled and exploited by non-African forces that must be driven from the continent if Africa is ever to unite and become a single large country that is able to fairly distribute Africa’s wealth and resources among the millions of desperate Africans both in Africa and elsewhere in the world. If you want to play a role in that struggle, attending an African Liberation Day event is an excellent first step. But it must be followed up with your enlistment in an organization that is committed to the liberation of Africa and her people. No one man or woman – no matter how skillful and brilliant – can achieve Pan-Africanism. Only the masses properly organized can do it. In the meantime, the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party will continue to use African Liberation Day to raise the consciousness of Africans everywhere.
